Women Intents- the perfect pitch... By katie marks
Women InTents- The Perfect Pitch; is a new comedy based on female same sex relationships. The play follows a writer who has recently come out of a relationship and tends to hide behind her characters and stories in a bid to shy away from her life and issues. The play has a modern twist on the technology of today, introducing the character Sappho, (based on Alexa/Siri) as our guide through the production. The characters come to life as the writer begins to type out and record her new comedy. These roles are played by what at first seems to be the removals company who have been moving the writer into her new apartment and in turn setting the scenes. Throughout the play the writer goes on a voyage of self-discovery of her own life and love. This is a beautiful and charming love story looking at the highs and lows of relationships.
The cast is made up of five very talented and funny ladies who have all trained in Wales and the UK and have worked both in Theatre, Film and Television. All bringing their own devising and comedic skills to the performance to create a fun and lively production with heart and soul and a great deal of dedication. The cast includes: Rachael Nicholson- Wright as the Writer, Katheryn Siggers as Sappho, Tori Lyons as Sarah, Emma Hickey as Anna and Yasmin Williams as Stevie.
The play ‘Women InTents- The Perfect Pitch’ had a review performance in Cardiff to a mixed audience who gave feedback on the show. The show was received extremely well, some comments: “The Characters were so real, people could identify with them”, “Entertaining and Funny”, “I definitely feel I was witnessing a bit of History”.
The play is quick witted and fast paced with some moving moments and is an uplifting view of female same sex relationships. To finish this lively performance there is an original song written for the piece entitled ‘The Five Finger Pitch’, sung by the cast live on stage. The original idea by Katie Marks and developed by Katheryn Siggers who brought the song to life beautifully and plays the guitar live in the performance.
The play has its own original soundtrack, provided by none other than The Alabaster Queen herself. Giving the performance the musicality it requires to enthral audiences.
